Alex Carey is a South Australian batsman. His full name is Alex Tyson Carey, and he was born in the year 1991 on 27th August. He is currently the wicket-keeper in the Australian International Cricket Team. He played domestic cricket for South Australia and Adelaide Strikers. He helped the Australian National Team to win in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship Final by being a part of the team. 

This 32-year-old player captained a side in 2010, but his career dropped after two years. He was left out of the side in 2012 and was not in form then. Alex Carey first began playing domestic cricket in 2013 as a left-handed batsman. He got a rookie contract for the South Australia team in the 2013-14 match. 

Alex Carey’s Career

Alex Carey finally geared up new skills in cricket after being rejected as a batsman. He started learning wicket-keeping and finally settled for it. He used to play as a lower middle-order batsman in the team. After developing new skills, his career opportunities also widened. 2015-16 was one of the best years for Carry as his career was at its peak. He got a call from Sheffield Shield for the final round. In the 2016-17 season, he was selected as a senior player for South Australia. He amassed over 500 runs in the Sheffield Shield season as a wicket-keeper. 

In the season 2017-18, Carey had the full opportunity to be a part of the Australia international team. But luck was not in his favour then, and finally, Tim Paine was selected to replace Matthew Wade in the Australian series. Though the incident did not affect Carrey’s strong dedication and perseverance, he continued to play for his team, Sheffield Shield and developed stronger wicket-keeping skills. 

Finally, he got a call as a limited-overs wicket-keeper in the year 2018,  he was ranked number 7, which was initially too low as per his abilities. Gradually, he was able to score high ranks and finally got an opportunity to play his first maiden World Cup. 

Alex Carey is a left-handed Australian batsman. Although he began his career as a batsman, the batsman wouldn't give him much fame. Therefore, he developed more skills and settled for wicket-keeping. He has one of the strongest wicket-keeping strengths in the Australian team. He began his cricketing career by playing domestic cricket for South Australia and Adelaide Strikers.
