Capri Global Holdings Private Limited's UP Warriorz franchise has named Australian batting sensation Alyssa Healy as team captain for the Women's Premier League (WPL) inaugural season. At the WPL Player Auctions on February 13 in Mumbai, the UP Warriorz purchased Healy for Rs 70 lakhs.

Healy, a household name in the sport, is a veteran of 139 Twenty20 Internationals for Australia, in which she scored 2,446 runs (including one hundred and fourteen fifties).

In Twenty20 Internationals, she has 110 dismissals (52 catches and 58 stumpings), making her one of the best wicket-keeper batters in the game. The 32-year-old served as captain for Australia during their 4-1 victory in a five-match Alessa Healy T20 International series in India last December.

Healy, an opener, is one of the most seasoned players on Australia's unbeatable team.
