Joseph was chosen to represent the West Indies at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in December 2015. He tied for third in the tournament's wicket-taking rankings with 13 dismissals across six games for his squad. He was chosen man of the match for his 4/30 against Zimbabwe.

As of October 2019, he is a Leeward Islands Regional Super50 squad member.

Alzarri Joseph's ODI career began when he was chosen to play for the West Indies in a series against India via the Test format. This was in July 2016. On August 9, 2016, in the series' third game, Alzarri made his Test debut. Alzarri Joseph's debut One-Day International was on October 2, 2016, against Pakistan.

He was given a contract by Cricket West Indies (CWI) in October 2018 to play in all formats of the sport during the upcoming 2018–19 season.

In the 2021 IPL auction, he was not purchased, however In the 2022 Indian Premier League auction held in February, Joseph was purchased by the Gujarat Titans for 2.40cr and in IPL 2023, he was acquired by Ahmedabad and gave a stellar performance.
