The tournament's third match was a nail-biting battle between the Washington Freedom, captained by Moises Henriques, and the Seattle Orcas, captained by Wayne Parnell. Before losing his middle stump to his Proteas counterpart, Orcas opener Quinton de Kock smashed Nortje for a huge six over deep mid-wicket.

Washington Freedom batted first and scored 144 runs off 20 overs, with the help of solid batting from captain Moises Henriques (24 runs) and run-getter Akeal Hosein (33 runs off 22 balls, not out).

The run chase for the Seattle Orcas began with Quinton de Kock and Nauman Anwar at the crease. During the third over of the innings, before de Kock had settled in, he hit Freedom bowler Anrich Nortje for a stunning six over deep mid-wicket. Although Anrich Nortje provided an early breakthrough for his team with de Kock, the Orcas batsmen ultimately won in the final over.

In 2016, Anrich Nortje played for the Eastern Province in the AfricanT20 Cup. He only got in the first two games and ended up with a combined 0/50 after 6 overs. His participation in the event was subsequently withdrawn. The eventual champions were Eastern Province.

In 2018, he participated in the first-ever Mzansi Super League T20, where he was selected to play for the Cape Town Blitz. The Blitz paid Rs. 350,000 for his services. Unfortunately, he could not finish the competition due to an ankle injury.

On March 3, 2019, at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Anrich Nortje's ODI debut was against Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankans were asked to bat first after the hosts won the toss. In 47 overs, they were only able to score 231 runs. Kusal Mendis was the only player with a fifty. 

Nortje, a first-time bowler, had impressive stats of 7-1-33-1. South Africa easily reached the target with eight wickets remaining with a 136-run stand between Quinton de Kock (81) and Faf du Plessis (112*).

Nortje was included in South Africa's Cricket World Cup squad in April 2019. A hand injury forced him to withdraw from the competition on May 7, 2019, and Chris Morris replaced him.

T20I Career

On September 18, 2019, Anrich Nortje's debut in T20I for South Africa against India was made, bowling 3 overs and allowing 27 runs while not picking up a wicket. He also participated in the final two games of the home series against Australia, bowling four overs and claiming two wickets.

Test Career

After Anrich Nortje's T20 debut, he was called up to the Test squad and made his debut for South Africa on October 10 2019, against India. South Africa lost by an innings and 137 runs after he gave up 100 runs in the first inning without taking a wicket. Anrich Nortje collected his first-ever five-wicket haul in a Test match in January 2020. It came in the fourth Test against England.
