Awesome We Got Over The Line: Daniel Sams On Conceding Just 3 Runs In Last Over

Australian pacer Daniel Sams, who gave up just three runs in the final over of Mumbai Indians' five-run victory over Gujarat Titans, said it felt "awesome" to get his team across the finish line.

In his last over, Daniel Sams only let in three runs

Do you know about Daniel Sams’ news? The Gujarat Titans needed nine runs from the final over bowled by Daniel Sams, but they could only score three.

“Wow, that was incredible; we crossed the queue and then some, “ remarked Sams. With 9 runs off 6 balls, Daniel Sams felt like he had nothing to lose and that the odds were in his favour at the plate. “I was able to get some wide balls into the tramline and execute the shot effectively. My goal was to use the most effective variations of my bowling delivery consistently; the slower ball is the one I keep returning to,” said Daniel.

Sams admitted that his team had yet to get to the start they had hoped for in this season's IPL and that Mumbai was already eliminated from playoff contention.

“After the first eight defeats, we considered the tournament a six-game mini-IPL," said Daniel Sams. “We're attempting to prove ourselves, and the fact that we could pull it off boosts our self-esteem,” he added.

Rohit Sharma, captain of MI, credited his team's bowlers for the victory.

“We were hoping for this, so the tight finish was a pleasant surprise.” Rohit declared, "Luck had to turn in our favour; we will grab this opportunity with both hands. We fell short by about 20 runs while batting, and they bowled quite well. Tim David did an excellent job. The dew helped them out, the surface was fantastic, and the outfield was lightning fast, but our bowlers nailed down the victory, “ said Rohit.

“The boys accomplished their goal, which is fantastic. We have not played our best cricket but are taking things one game at a time. There are several elements to consider when making a bowling change; we wanted to remove the pace that was going on to the bat, which I believed they enjoyed," Sharma remarked when asked about the Titans' run-chasing tactics.

“Great job by the tail-end bowlers. When they (MI) were headed for 200, they did a wonderful job of applying pressure and bringing it back down to 170,'' added Rohit. “He (Daniel) was under the pump in a couple of games, but I have watched him for Australia and in the BBL, and he has a lot of quality,'' Rohit said about Daniel Sams, who gave up only three runs in the final over to seal the win for MI. ''Defending nine runs was not a cakewalk,” said Hardik Pandya, who blamed his team's loss on the two run-outs (of himself and Rahul Tewatia).

"We would have won by nine points on any day. Our team lost because of two costly run-outs, “ said Pandya. "I think batters let us down. You can't afford consecutive losses in a T20 competition. We have eliminated the need for pointing fingers. We played well for the first 19 overs, but our inexperience showed, and we lost. A few more hits in the second half of our inning would have made a huge difference. We shouldn't have allowed it to come down to the last over.” Pandya added.

Despite not being selected for BBL-7, Daniel Sams played for the Sydney Sixers as an injury substitute for Henry Thornton. This was a huge break for the tall, fast bowler planning to return to the domestic circuit grind. They say the rest is history. Now that Sams has signed with the IPL, he hopes to set the world on fire.
