After finding out that he wouldn't be playing for the Tamil Nadu squad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2021-22 season, Baba Indrajith reached out to Mayank Agarwal's longtime coach, RX Murali, in October 2021 to discuss improving his white-ball skills. After a few weeks of training with Murali, he noticed significant improvements on his next adventure.

During the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Baba Indrajith amassed 325 runs at an average of 46.42, including four half-centuries. Indrajith topped Tamil Nadu in run scoring during the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season with 396 runs in three matches, averaging 99, with three hundred.

After signing his IPL 2022 contract, Baba Indrajith promptly scored three consecutive hundreds. Baba Indrajith century came when the squad needed him.

The first match against Delhi ended in a stalemate despite his counterattacking 117, not out of 149. The second game against Chhattisgarh resulted in a tie after Baba Indrajith scored 127 and his twin brother Baba Aparajith 166. 

Baba Indrajith scored 100 in the first and 56 in the second in the third game against Jharkhand, but his team still lost by two runs.

IPL Debut for Baba Indrajith

What about Baba Indrajith's IPL career? Well, after his strong performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22, IPL scouts gave Baba Indrajith a tryout with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for Rs. 20 lakhs in the February 2022 IPL mega auction. Baba Indrajith debuted for Kolkata Knight Riders against Delhi Capitals on April 28, 2022.
