Century On ODI Debut- Reeza Hendricks For South Africa 2018

Reeza Hendricks, a right-handed South African player, recorded a century on debut with a 3-0 lead in their ODI series against Sri Lanka.

However, the Proteas decided to make one change, replacing Aiden Markram with the Lions batsman Hendricks, with the stage moving from Dambulla to Pallekele.

Reeza Hendricks' score

During the toss, Angelo Matthews, the Sri Lankan skipper, won and inserted the Proteas on a decent wicket. However, that decision reversed poorly for the hosts. Quinton de Kock made just two, and Hashim Amla, his opening partner, did fine.

Moving on, Reeza Hendricks jumped the record to 100 in the 16th over.

In quick succession, Sri Lanka got skipper Faf du Plessis and Amla; however, JP Duminy scored a 78-run stand with Hendricks, who had to leave after his century because of Lahiru Kumara's delivery.

Duminy told the media that the dismissal of Hendricks did not impact South Africa's speed, and the Proteas got 114 runs in the final ten overs because Sri Lanka's bowling fell through.

Sri Lanka's Take

Despite a good start for many of their batsmen, Sri Lanka was disappointed again. Dhananjaya de Silva and Akila Dananjaya's seventh wicket partnership did increase the hopes; however, when De Silva was behind De Kock, those hopes went away and bowled out for 285.

Sri Lanka was ahead of South Africa for most of their innings at the corresponding stage, but a shortage of wickets defeated them against South Africa.
