Chris Gayle Says Shimron Hetmyer Has The Ability To Play Cricket For West Indies

T20 cricket's destructive opening batsman Teammate Chris Gayle thinks Shimron Hetmyer may be an important cog for West Indies this decade if he puts more time and effort on the cricket pitch.

Shimron Hetmyer is the most talented and skilled cricketer in the West Indies at the moment. He is the winning captain of the Under 19 World Cup. Inspired by his father, at the very young age of 11 years, he started playing cricket. In 2014, he started his cricket journey; however, he failed to perform in the 2014 World Cup appropriately and scored only a single-digit score in 3 matches. But he never loses hope. With more practice, he came back on the pitch and proved himself.

Not only this, the most well-known name in the cricket world, Chris Gayle, showed his faith in this young cricketer and supported him. He knows his worth in the West Indies team and wants him to play more games for West Indies and help him in winning matches.

Chris Gayle has faith in Shimron Hetmyer's potential to contribute to the West Indies cricket team

Do you know about Shimron Hetmyer’s news? Chris Gayle, one of the most lethal opening batters in Twenty20 cricket, believes that Shimron Hetmyer, another teammate, might be an important part of West Indies in this decade if he dedicates more time to the sport.

A total of two tests, three Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals, were played in the series that began on March 3. Shimron Hetmyer was not included in the West Indies squad for the white-ball series because he was not physically healthy enough to play. According to a recent communication between the two, Chris Gayle said he had already spoken with Shimron Hetmyer and would welcome the opportunity to do so again.

Chris Gayle said to the media, “Hopefully, everything works out, and these guys take cricket seriously since West Indies cricket needs that skill. We can look to the future with confidence because of these young men. Talented young men like Shimron Hetmyer represent hope for the future. If I run into Hetmyer, I'll try to chat with him because we need him, and his expertise is invaluable. I've already talked with him and would do it again if the opportunity arose.”

Chris Gayle and bowler Fidel Edwards are returning to the West Indies lineup for Twenty20 International matches. Fidel Edwards is called up again after 9 years, and Chris Gayle last played T20l in 2016.

Shimron Hetmyer has eliminated the margin of error for the upcoming test series

Although Shimron Hetmyer did not pass the fitness test for the white-ball series, he may play in the test series against Sri Lanka that follows the white-ball series. Jimmy Adams, director of the West Indies Cricket Board, has stated that Shimron Hetmyer passed the most recent fitness test with flying colours.

Adams explained that Roston Chase and Shimron Hetmyer had recently met the minimum fitness standard for selection. "We had a press conference very recently, and we had explained that some players had missed the minimum fitness standard for selection," Adams said. The West Indies have released their squads for both the white-ball matches, and the test series, which began on March 21.

While Kieron Pollard led the Windies in both the Twenty20 International and One-Day International series, Sri Lanka was led by Dasun Shanaka in the Twenty20 Internationals and Dimuth Karunaratne in the One-Day International and Test Series.
