The Indian left-arm batter and bowler Saurabh Kumar took an eight-wicket haul in the second innings of the Duleep Trophy quarter-final match against East Zone at the Alur cricket stadium.

This was Saurabh Kumar's 20th five-wicket haul in First Class (FC) cricket. It was also the seventh time he had taken ten wickets in a match in FC cricket.

At Alur midway via the third day's play, East Zone set an aim of 300 in the fourth innings. However, Kumar harshly dented the chances by taking four wickets on the day to decrease East Zone to 69/6. On the final day, Kumar went on and got all four remaining wickets to finish 8/64 in 18.2 overs.
