IPL Auction 2023 | Cameron Green Sold To Mumbai Indians For Maddening Price; Know Details

On Friday in Kochi, during the IPL 2023 auction, Mumbai purchased Cameron Green for Rs 17.50 crore, making him the second-most expensive player in the league. Beginning the auction for the Australian talent, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians offered Rs 2 crore. The price quickly increased to almost Rs. 7 crore.

The Delhi Capitals also entered the contest once the sum exceeded Rs. 10 crore. The Capitals and Indians continued to contend for the player even after the 15-crore mark. Green's price surpassed numerous records, but the Mumbai Indians persisted and eventually acquired the player. For two to three years, we've been following Green because we felt he was exactly what we needed. He fits the right age profile for us; we've been looking for younger players in recent auctions, Akash Ambani remarked.

"I can hardly believe this is really happening. It's an odd sensation to watch an auction alone. I can't believe how anxious I was, and when the decision was confirmed, I was trembling like crazy," Green remarked.

"Being a part of the IPL will be so awesome. I've always been a major fan. I am incredibly humbled to be joining the Mumbai Indians, one of the competition's powerhouses. I'm eager to visit there the following year.

Green is currently second on the list of the most expensive IPL auction purchases. Sam Curran was purchased by the Punjab Kings for 18.50 crore during the same auction.

In April 2022, Australia's Green played his first T20 match. Green has two 50+ scores and a strikeout of 173.75 in eight games. In November games against India, both fifty-plus scores—61 off 30 balls and 52 off 21 deliveries—occurred.

In seven balls, Green has taken five wickets. While his average is 35.60, his economy is 8.90. After Josh Inglis hurt himself, the all-rounder was added to Australia's T20 World Cup roster.

Green's IPL career will begin in the 2023 campaign. He plays for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League; however, he has only made nine appearances thus far.

At the IPL 2023 auction, the Mumbai Indians placed a mind-blowing bid for Cameron Green, signing him for a staggering Rs. 17.50 crore. He was the second-most expensive player in the IPL as a result. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians engaged in a bidding battle that began at Rs. 2 crore and quickly reached record-breaking sums. The Australian all-rounder was acquired thanks to the Mumbai Indians' perseverance. The franchise was drawn to Green's strong T20 performances and young player potential. He expressed enthusiasm and humility at joining the dominant team, which would be his debut IPL outing.
