Background

Shafique was born in 1999 in Sialkot and got into cricket when he was young. Abdulla Shafique’s father, Shafique Ahmed, was also then playing first-class cricketer.

At just the age of 14, Abdulla Shafique entered the Sialkot Under-16s side and instantly jumped into the Sialkot's Under-19 side, recording an excellent double-hundred in his second outing.

In 2021, he was traded to Balochistan, who was struggling and scored 259 runs at 37.00 in the tournament.

Afterwards, Shafique was selected for the Pakistan Shaheens tour to Sri Lanka while being picked for the senior side tour in Bangladesh. As he recorded 117 versus Sri Lanka, he got two half-centuries on this Test debut, recording 150 runs in three innings as Pakistan won the series by 2-0.

Later, the right-hander was in the PSL by a new-look Lahore Qalandars side. Shafique found it difficult to continue as he scored low scores as one fifty in eleven outings and 128 meagre. Although, he did decent in the eliminator, scoring 52 off 28 balls. Moreover, the Qalandars left Shafique behind and went on to succeed.
