This is where the friendship between the two families began. Later, Sharad (Rahul’s father) had worked in Nagpur for a while, and that’s where young Rahul and Vijetha became good friends.

When their friendship started blooming, their families understood that the duo might turn their friendship into a wedding. Within no time, the date of marriage was fixed.
Rahul Dravid, being a cricketer would live in the spotlight. However, Vijetha was oblivious to it. When the media came to know about Rahul and Vijetha’s wedding, they started digging for information about Vijetha and her family. Both the families got alarmed about media attention and felt uncomfortable. The Pendharkars and the Dravids have led a simple life. Also, Rahul and Vijetha had been shy by nature. So, they averted the media in this respect.
Both the families fixed Rahul-Vijetha’s wedding for 2002. However, the marriage was delayed due to the 2003 World Cup as Rahul had to practise a lot. So, the families decided to host a simple engagement ceremony while delaying the date of marriage.
Vijetha and Rahul Dravid got married on 4th May 2003. It was a simple yet traditional wedding that took place at the Border Security Force Training Center on the outskirts of Bangalore. The groom and the bride wore traditional attire for their big day. The ceremony began at 9.30 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. A lavish lunch was organised for wedding guests at a five-star hotel. The hotel also served as a venue for the reception.
Rahul Dravid records are extremely captivating, and so is his love story. Vijetha and Rahul Dravid may be famous but they’re like any other regular couple.
