Misbah-Ul-Haq To Lead Pakistan's Cricket Technical Committee: A New Chapter In His Cricketing Journey

As per the official announcement made by the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), Misbah-ul-Haq, the former captain and Pakistani cricket coach will be leading the Cricket Technical Committee (CTC). The committee also includes the former skippers Mohammad Hafeez and Inzamam-ul-Haq. 

Even the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s domestic cricket department will be an integral part of the CTC. He is the representative of the Cricket Management Committee chairman. There has been constant speculation about the cricket committee formation that Zaka Ashraf has been drafted by the cricket committee along with Misbah.  However,  the official announcement cleared the air when Rashid Latif clarified that he has no association with the PCB committee. 

Formation and objective of the Cricket Technical Committee

The main intention of the committee is to make recommendations about cricket-related matters. The final decision will rest upon the chairman of the board. The presence of experienced cricketers like Mohammad Hafeez, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Misbah-ul-Haq will help to get valuable insight and make informed cricket-related decisions in Pakistan. The formation of the committee that includes respected former cricketers is anticipated to have a positive influence on the development of cricket in Pakistan. 

Cricket Technical Committee will extend their valuable recommendations on a wide range of cricket-related matters, which includes scheduling, overall domestic structure, the appointment of national team coaches, playing conditions, plans for the development and upliftment of referees, umpires, and curators, domestic and central contracts, and more. Even the  Cricket Technical Committee holds the authority to invite auxiliary cricket experts and report about the same to the PCB management committee head on a daily basis. 

As stated by Ashraf,  Mohammad Hafeez, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Misbah-ul-Haq have great cricket knowledge and they are aware of the intricacies needed to excel in modern-day cricket. He further added that the structure of domestic cricket is the foundation of all cricketing nations. Hence it is imperative to make the structure of it progressive. Three of the most decorated cricketers - Hafeez, Inzamam, and Misbah, excelled in the domestic ranks and they can provide a top-grade system for the cricketers to thrive and give their best performance. 

About Misbah-ul-Haq

In 1998, Misbah made his first-class debut. Later in 2002, Misbah-ul-Haq grabbed the attention of the selectors by making notable runs in the domestic scene. His career graph reflects many ups and downs. What remains constant is his consistency. In 2007, after getting sidelined from the national side, Misbah made a notable comeback in the national team and he emerged to be the best player in the T20 World Cup, 2007. His form enabled him to score 464 runs in the three test matches. 

Misbah started the year 2008 by making high points and reached the position of vice-captain of the team. He was even awarded a Grade A contract. However, his form plummeted and he could not be a part of any of the three formats of the game. In late 2010, he was made the captain of the against South Africa of the Test Side. 

He captained the Pakistan cricket team across all the formats. He even led the country to become the champions of the Asia Cup, in 2012.  He has flourished to be a successful Pakistan Test captain, going past Imran Khan who bagged 13 wins. In addition, in 2014, he recorded a 56-ball hundred. Though he made his international debut in 2001, it was 2007 that became his breakthrough season where he played a brilliant knock and became a leading run-getter of Pakistan.
