Pragyan Ojha is a former Indian cricketer who grabbed attention when he ended up in the list of top ten bowlers in the 2006-2007 Ranji Trophy season (league stage). It was just his second season. His consistent performances helped him get the T20 League contract and he flourished as a bowling star for Hyderabad. In the third season, he got the ‘purple cap’. 

He is prodigiously talented and is among the few cricketers who took more wickets than making scores in Test cricket. He was known to be an extremely patient bowler and his potential rests in his loop and bounce. 

About Pragyan Ojha

It did not take much time for Pragyan Ojha to play on the national side. After his impressive performance with the Under-19s, in 2004-2005, Pragyan made his Ranji debut. Within 1-2 years after this, he emerged to be a serious contender in the Indian squad. Ojha commenced the season by making 6/84 against Maharashtra. According to his coach, this performance became a turning point in his career. He wrapped up with 29 wickets from six games at an average of 19.89. 

In November 2007, he took 8 wickets against South Africa. He got a call-up to the national team after scalping 11 wickets in IPL 2008 for the Deccan Chargers. Even he had an amazing season in IPL 2009 with the Deccan Chargers. He took 18 wickets at an average of 19.33. He displayed his consistency for India even in the longer formats. Even he won a position in the 2009 World T20 campaign and got a call-up for the maiden test match against Sri Lanka. 

In the 2011-2012 season, he played 10 test matches. He gave a notable performance In November 2013, when West Indies toured India. In both test matches he performed brilliantly. He also became the Man of the Match. 

In the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, Ojha was taken in by the Mumbai Indians. Since then, he has played a significant part in the team. Pragyan Ojha announced retirement from all formats of cricket in 2013. It was during the farewell Test match of Sachin Tendulkar against West Indies.
