Singh Is Super King: Akash Hoping To Realise His Dreams At New IPL Side

Akash Singh is not a newcomer to the IPL fan club. The youthful left-arm fast bowler was once a part of the Rajasthan Royals' setup and played in one game in Abu Dhabi against Chennai Super Kings.

The organisation chose not to keep the young player in front of the 2022 mega auction due to his dismal stat line of 0-for-40, and he spent the rest of the season on the bench.

The young man, at 20, was going through a tough patch. Akash's one-game IPL stint left him out of the picture for his state team, Rajasthan; he was invited to play for Nagaland in the 2022-23 season. A disappointing five wickets in six games for the Plate team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy were offset by ten in the Ranji Trophy and fourteen in the One-Day Internationals.

Domestic Career

Akash Singh's domestic cricket experience could be improved. On November 9, 2019, he made Akash Singh debut T20 match for Rajasthan against Tamil Nadu. At Thumba, Singh bowled a fantastic four overs, allowing only 26 runs. On his first T20 appearance, he took out the opposing team's captain, Dinesh Karthik, and the opening batter, Murali Vijay.

Akash Singh’s T20 debut was so impressive that he had to wait until January 27, 2021, to get his second cap. He was selected to play for Rajasthan in the quarterfinal match in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy between Rajasthan and the Bihar cricket team in Ahmedabad. Akash Singh started with two wicketless overs, in which his team gave up 21 runs.

After that, in the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Akash Singh made his List-A debut for Rajasthan. In three games, the team's left-handed fast bowler took two wickets at an economy rate of 7.52. On his first List-A outing, he removed Prashant Chopra and Digvijay Rangi of the Himachal Pradesh side with figures of 2/46.

Despite this success, Akash Singh struggled in his next two List-A contests. Singh was unable to increase his number of wickets. In the match against Maharashtra, he also gave up 76 runs.

The 18-year-old has not yet made his senior team debut for his native state in the first-class format.

IPL Career

What about Akash Singh IPL career? There is no previous experience for Akash Singh in the IPL. At the 2020 IPL Auction, the Rajasthan Royals team signed him for INR 20 lakh. In the United Arab Emirates, the Royals failed to provide him with a single match. They waived him before the 2021 season, but the Jaipur franchise picked him up at the IPL Auction for the same base price of INR 20 lakh.

Akash Singh, originally from Rajasthan, became well-known after he took three wickets while playing for India U19s against Australia U19s in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2020. The India U-19 cricket team lost that tournament despite Akash's impressive pace bowling.
