Watch: Aussie Pacer Riley Meredith Concedes 17 Runs Off 1 Ball In Big Bash League

On Thursday, February 8 2019, Australian bowler Riley Meredith was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after he gave up 17 runs off of just one ball during a Big Bash League match. The 22-year-old Hobart Hurricanes player caused the strange event when he produced a string of unlawful deliveries during the game against the Melbourne Renegades.

In the Big Bash League, an Australian bowler allowed 17 runs off one delivery.

What is Riley Meredith's latest news? The unbelievable chain of events occurred in the Renegades' first over of their run chase. Meredith, who came in to begin the batting for the Hurricanes, threw four consecutive no-balls and wide deliveries.

Meredith initially overstepped when bowling the fourth ball of the over, resulting in a free hit and an extra run being given away. The right-handed bowler then gave away five more runs by bowling a wide down-the-leg side that the keeper mishandled. Riley Meredith then made an illegal pass a second time, but Aaron Finch was able to block it. The pacer then produced his third no-ball of the over, resulting in another four-run over for Finch. The 22-year-old finally bowled a legal delivery, allowing only one run off Finch's bat on the fourth ball but still losing by 17 runs.

After allowing 23 runs in the first over, Riley Meredith called time.

The Hurricanes ultimately prevailed in the match by a score of 16 runs, but it was Meredith's strange string of deliveries that everyone was talking about.
