Kudeep Yadav claimed four wickets to stop Sri Lanka’s fight back in their Super 4 clash of the Asia Cup on Tuesday as India emerged victorious by 41 runs. The win confirmed India’s entry in the final of the Asia Cup. It also ensured that the upcoming game between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be a virtual semi-final.
Batting first, India were restricted to 213 against Sri Lanka as left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage returned with a career-best 5/40, while off-sinner Charith Asalanka and Theekshana accounting for the remaining four wickets in a stellar bowling display.
For India, skipper Rohit Sharma top-scored for India with a 48-ball 53 while KL Rahul (39 runs) and Ishan Kishan (33 runs) also chipped in with contributions. Axar Patel added a valuable 26 towards the end of the innings.
