A rising 22-year-old wicketkeeper and batting star, Dhruv Chand Jurel belongs to the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He was born on January 21, 2001, and is a right-handed batsman. Dhruv started playing domestic cricket in the year 2021, and he made his domestic T20 debut on January 10, 2021, when he was part of a match against Punjab at Alur. Later in the year 2022, he got a chance to make his debut appearance in FC Cricket.

Currently, Dhruv Jurel plays domestic cricket for the state of Uttar Pradesh and is a part of the Rajasthan Royals team in the Indian Premier League. He is a very young player who has just set foot in the IPL in the year 2023, where he played against Kings XI Punjab.

Dhruv Chand Jurel, more commonly known by his followers as Dhruv Jurel, is a bright and rising star who was born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh. After he finished his studies at the Army Public School in Agra, Jurel's father wanted him to become an army officer. Jurel was, however, always attracted to sports and never had any intention of pursuing any other field in life.

Dhruv's journey of convincing his parents about this field that he wanted to pursue started when he was just a schoolchild. Though initially his father was a bit skeptical about Dhruv's decision and ambition, later on he showed full support for his son's dreams. Dhruv was trained under several great coaches, like Parvendra Yadav and Abhay Singh.

Start of an amazing career

Dhruv Jurel's domestic career as a cricketer started during his school days. It was in 2014 when he was a part of six matches for the under-17 national cricket team in the T20 championship. With four centuries and two half-centuries, he scored 600 runs. Later, he also got selected to play for the UP under-14 team. Apart from that, he also played three matches in the Raj Singh Dungarpur Trophy in the under-14 category that was held in 2015. Herein, he scored 152 runs, including 137 runs in the finals against Madhya Pradesh. 

Apart from this, Dhruv was also selected for Uttar Pradesh under-16 in 2016, and he played in the Vijay Merchant Trophy of 2015-16. Also, he was selected for Uttar Pradesh in the year 2018 in the under-19 category. Moreover, he was also a part of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy held in 2018–19 and 2019–20. On October 16, 2018, Jurel scored his maiden domestic under-19 one-day half century against Jharkhand. Also, he played in the Cooch Behar Trophy for Uttar Pradesh held in the year 2018–19 in the under-19 category. He scored a total of 762 runs in the 11 matches that he was a part of.

In the year 2021, Dhruv was again selected for Uttar Pradesh. During that time, he made his debut in a T20 match, which was the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Punjab. The match was held on January 10, 2021, and he scored 23 runs on 30 balls. In 2022, he was selected for the Uttar Pradesh under-25 team for the CK Nayudu Trophy. 

Dhruv Jurel's International and IPL career

Being a very young and new player who has just started his career as a cricketer, Dhruv Jurel got a chance to represent himself at the international level at a very young age. He got selected for India under-19 and got a chance to play in the 2019 England Tri-Nation under-19 tournament. Also, he got a chance to represent India in the Asian Cricket Council under-19 Asia Cup held in 2019–20. He also played for India in the Quadrangular tournament under-19 in the year 2018-19. He was appointed vice captain of the Indian under-19 team in the 2019–20 ICC Under-19 World Cup. 

In the mega auction of 2022, Dhruv Jurel was selected by the Rajasthan Royals for a base price of Rs. 2 lakh. Even though he didn't play in any of the matches in the 2022 IPL, he made his debut in the next season, which was held on April 5th, 2023, against the Punjab Kings in Guwahati. In that match, he scored 32 runs in 15 balls, and that comprised 2 sixes and 3 fours. 

Even though he has yet to achieve a lot as a cricketer, he has still been able to show an incredible performance in all the matches and tournaments that he has been a part of.
